Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some questions you might have ...

Can I get a discount if I do not want an engagment session?

A.No.
Every photography package that we offer includes a free engagement session. If you choose to opt out, this will not effect the price of the packages you are choosing.

While we do offer an A' La Cart option for engagement sessions,
we highly recommend you use the session within 18 months of the contract date.

In some cases, Sand Stone Films may offer a free engagement session for events/contracts outside the offered packages.

In the case that Sand Stone Films offers a free/complimentary session, i.e.. engagement photo session, engagement video session, the offer is valid with the following conditions:

-If the couple chooses to accept and do the session prior to the wedding. I.e. the session is valid from the date of the contract up to the date of the wedding/event.

-If the couple chooses to accept and do the session, but after the wedding/event, the session is only valid for 6 month from the date of the wedding/event.

How long have you been a wedding photographer?

A.We have been in the wedding business since 2008.

How many photographers will be at my wedding?

A.It depends on the package you choose.
Weddings six hours and longer include two to three photographers. We work with a few different assistant photographers, all of whom are professional, fantastic, and talented.

Weddings less than six hours, elopements, and micro-weddings, include one photographer. We can add a second photographer if it seems like the situation warrants it, but we are able to cover most smaller weddings with one photographer/videographer.

How long in advance should I reserve my wedding date?

A.In general, the earlier the better, If you're thinking of having your wedding on a Saturday, six months to a year. For Friday, or Sunday wedding, we recommend six months minimum. We often book Saturdays over a year very quickly.

What happens if you’re sick on my wedding day?

A.Although I’ve never been sick enough to miss a wedding, it is a possibility that I cover in my agreement. If I am—for whatever reason—unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll find and secure a replacement photographer of similar style and ability.

My reception space is dark. Do you bring your own lighting?

A.Yes!
While we typically photograph as much as possible with natural light, once the sun goes down we break out the off-camera lighting to make sure your reception photographs are well lit and clear as possible.

Are we able to change the details of our wedding day coverage as our wedding day approaches?

A.Absolutely!
It’s hard to know, so far in advance exactly all the exact locations of getting ready, etc. You may also find you need more hours of coverage.
It’s not a problem at all if you decide to increase your coverage in the weeks and months leading up to your wedding. Adding more will add more to the final invoice. We are always happy to look over your itinerary (once you have it figured out) and let you know if you need more coverage for your wedding day!

How many photos should we expect?

A.We don’t provide an exact number of photos nor guarantee / anticipate a certain number of photos, because each wedding is so different. As a result, the number of photos from each wedding will be different.
Things like the size of your wedding party, number of guests, length of time allowed for portraits, number of locations, number of photographers, travel time between locations, etc.. all play their part in how many photos you will end up with.

Do your packages include travel time?

A.Yes.
All of the packages we offer, include travel time to and from locations. For example, if you select an 8-hour package and start time is 1:00 PM, that means the end time would be 9:00 PM.
That includes, getting ready, leaving for the ceremony location, traveling to a park for after-photos, and traveling to the reception.

Do you photograph destination weddings?

A.Yes. We would love to go where you need us. While travel accommodations do apply, we are happy to discuss pricing with you!

Will there be a second photographer?

A.For most of the packages that we offer, we do have a second, sometimes a third photographer. You can always add an additional photographer for an additional cost.

What kind of gear do you use?

A.We use Canon gear for photos and video, Canon 5D II, 5D III, 80D, 50mm, 24-70mm, 24-105mm, 70-200mm, 100-400mm, and Godox for lighting, TASCAM for audio, SONY, and SHURE for microphones.

Do I have to order prints through you?

A.No. You may choose any developing venue to get prints. We do kindly ask you not to take the photos we took to get printed at local shops such as Walgreens or CVS, etc,

How do we go about printing our images?

A.You have full printing rights for all of the images in your final gallery, and you may use whatever printing vendor you’d like. We highly recommend you order prints directly from your online gallery using our professional trusted lab if you’d like.

Why do you cost so much?

A.When you are hiring us, you are hiring a professional photographer- someone who has professional equipment, experience in photographing weddings and a passion for what they do.
